هذا المعجم لا يضمّ جميع الأموات من الفلاسفة، فحسب، بل كذلك الأحياء منهم، ويفسح مجالاً واسعاً لعرض آرائهم ومذاهبهم، حتى وإن كان تطوّر بعضهم لم يكتمل.
تميز هذا المعجم بإشتماله على أعلام الفلسفة وإيجاز متبنياتهم الفلسفية من ناحية، كما أوردنا فيه كذلك بيان الإصطلاحات الفلسفية التي دأب الفلاسفة والباحثون على تناولها، بل وعرضنا بنحو نافع ما يتعلق بالمدارس الفلسفية القديمة والحديثة بشيء من الإيجاز، وقد تناولنا العرض بإسلوب سهل يسير على القارئ والباحث على حد سواء.
