ترکیب ادویہ کے حوالے سےکتاب الدستور فی الطب البیمارستانی، بھی عربی عہد کی اہم یادگار ہے جسےشفاخانوں کی روز مرہ کی دوائی ضرورتوں کو سامنے رکھ کر ترتیب دیا گیا ہے۔ اس کامؤلف سدیدالدین بن ابی البیان، تیرہویں صدی عیسوی میں مصر کا ایک ممتاز طبیب تھا۔ وہ ۵۵۶ھ/ ۱۱۶۱ء میں قاہرہ میں پیدا ہوا۔ اپنے وقت کے مشہور اور فاضل اطبا ، ہبۃ اللہ بن جمیع یہودی (وفات ۱۱۹۸ء) اور ابو الفضائل بن ناقد ( وفات ۵۸۴ ھ) سے طب کی تعلیم حاصل کی، ابو بکر بن ایوب (وفات ۱۲۱۸ ء ) کا طبیب خاص رہا اور صاحب معجم المؤلفین کے مطابق ۸۶ سال کی عمر میں ۶۴۳ ھ /۱۲۴۵ء میں دنیا سے کوچ کرگیا۔ داؤو کے استاذ، ابن جمیع کو القانون فی الطب کے شارح اور کتاب الارشاد جیسی جامع کتاب کے مصنف کی حیثیت سے عرب اطبا کے درمیان ایک خاص مقام حاصل ہے۔
دور حاضر میں بلا شبہ صیدلہ کی عملی ہدایات کے لیے کئی ایسی قرابادینیں موجود ہیں، جو دستور جیسی مختصر کتاب سے بے نیاز کرتی ہیں۔ مگر علم الادویہ کے ماہرین اور محققین کے لیے یہ کتاب اس اعتبار سے نہایت اہم ہے کہ چند صفحات کے مطالعہ سے انہیں سیکڑوں ایسے مرکبات کا علم ہوتا ہے، جن کی منفعت پر اطبا کی ایک بڑی جماعت کا اجماع ہے۔ اس کتاب میں ابوالبیان نے صرف وہی مرکبات درج کیے ہیں جن کی افادیت مصر ، شام اور عراق کے اطباء کے نزدیک مسلم تھی۔ معاصر سائنسی پیمانوں کے ذریعہ دواؤں کے توثیقی مطالعہ کے لیے یہ مختصر سا سرمایہ بڑے کام کا ثابت ہو سکتا ہے۔ مجھے قوی امید ہے کہ ناچیز کی یہ ادنیٰ سی کوشش، اردو داں طبی حلقے میں خاطر خواہ قبولیت حاصل کرے گی۔
