في هودج واحد، تتقدم هذه الرواية حاملة الأمراء والسوبر ماركت والقرامطة والكوكاكولا والدراويش والسياح وسفينة نوح والمطارات وملوك الطوائف والأنتربول والرقيق الأبيض وأصحاب الكهف الخ.. في مناخ تتداخل فيه الأسطورة، بالتاريخ، بالواقع المعاش.
رواية تطمح لقول كل شيء عبر حكاية تنعقد وتتنامى وتطور بين درويش (شخصية عربية تونسية) وفرنسوا مارتل (السائح الفرنسي)، وسط عوالم ومشاهد خيالية تنبت كالفطر. فيتقابل الماضي البعيد مع الماضي القريب مع الحوادث الواقعية المعاصرة.
كل ذلك بأسلوب من الاسترسال والهذيان والتداعي المحموم، يعيد لفظ ما اختزنته ذاكرة مشتعلة بمحطات التاريخ العربي، وما رأته عين مذهولة بمشاهداتها لعوالم شديدة التنافر والغموض.
