ثلاثة عمّال تنقيب—حسن وخالد ومحمد—يفرّون من موقعٍ صحراوي في عاصفةٍ غادرة، بعدما تُركوا وحدهم كآخر من غادر. تتعطّل السيارة عند تلّة من حجر الصوّان، فيتفرّقون وسط ظلامٍ يبتلع الطريق. يسقط خالد ومحمد عبر شقٍّ مخبوء إلى كهفٍ منحوت كأنه صُنع عمدًا، وفيه تابوتٌ حجري عميق تلمع حوافه بذهبٍ وفسيفساء. يتسلّل الجشع إلى حسن فيخفي جُعرانًا معدنيًا يعثر عليه داخل فتحةٍ سرّية، بينما يحمل خالد جرح الخيانة القديمة وعنف السجن. في هدنة الليل داخل الكهف، ينفجر الصراع بينهما حين يكتشف خال د سرقة حسن، وينتهي الاشتباك بمأساةٍ تترك محمد وحده. مع الفجر يعثر فريق البحث على محمد حيًا تحت السيارة، ويصدّقون روايته المرتجفة عن ضياع رفيقيه في العاصفة، بينما يلمس في جيبه الجُعران البارد… كعلامة أن “الغنيمة” لا تذهب دائمًا للأقوى، بل لمن ينتظر حتى ينتهي الآخرون من تدمير أنفسهم.
