إن كل ابن آدم خطاء وخير الخطائين التوابون، فالتوبة والاستغفار سبيل المؤمن لمرضاته سبحانه وتعالى، فباب التوبة مفتوح لا يغلق أمام أحد إلا حين تبلغ الروح الحلقوم، أو تطلع الشمس من مغربها.
ولقد يسر الله أمر التوبة، وفتح أبوابها لمن أرادها، فهو عز وجل يبسط يده بالليل ليتوب مسيء النهار، ويبسط يده بالنهار ليتوب مسيء الليل، وباب التوبة مفتوح للكفار والمشركين والمرتدين والمنافقين والظالمين والعصاة والمقصرين.
فمن أراد الرجوع إلى الطريق المستقيم فما عليه إلا أن يبادر بالتوبة، ويقلع عن الذنوب من قبل أن يأتي يوم يحال فيه بينه وبينها، فيتحسر على ما فرط، ويضيق ذرعا بما وصل إليه من واقع مرير.
