خلق الله تعالى العباد من أجل الطاعة والعبادة وأرسل الأنبياء والرسل عليهم السلام، لتبيين كيفية هذه الطاعة وأحكامها وجزئياتها وشرائطها، وزود العباد بالفطرة والعقل لكي لا يحيف الإنسان ويبتعد كثيراً عن الحق ويصدق ببعثه الأنبياء عليهم السلام ويستوعب إرشاداتهم من أجل الوصول إلى حق الطاعة لله تعالى.
ثم لمعرفة الله تعالى بالعباد وأنهم غير معصومين، وأن ملذات الدنيا سوف تغريهم ويقترفوا ما حرم الله عليهم فيبتعدوا عن الطاعة ويقتربوا من المعصية، قام سبحانه وتعالى ولشدة حبه لعباده ورحمته لهم، فجعل التوبة من هذه المعاصي والذنوب ليعود الإنسان إلى فطرته وطاعة ربه بعد التزامه بشرائط التوبة، ومن هنا كان لا بد من التعرض لأبحاث التوبة وبركاتها وتعداد الذنوب وآثارها. وما يسعى إليه هذا الكتاب هو بيان هذه المباحث المهمة.
