تكشف هذه الوثائق - وهي مجموع المراسلات المتبادلة بين ستالين زعيم الإتحاد السوفيتي وزعماء كل من بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة في أثناء الحرب، تكشف كيف كانت تُدار الحرب وتوضع الخطط الإستراتيجية للمعارك. والأهم من ذلك تكشف كيف كان الأقوياء يغيرون خريطة العالم ويعيدون صياغته. أزيلت حدود ووضعت حدود جديدة. أزيلت دول وبعثت دول. سقطت أنظمة وبُعثت أنظمة.
وعلى الرغم مما مضى على هذه المراسلات فما زال لها متتبعوها الكُثر.
وإذا كانت تهم عموم الفقراء، قرّاء الأحداث التاريخية، فإنها تهم على وجه الخصوص كلاً من:
1- رجال السياسة والسلك الدبلوماسي لما تقدمه من ذخيرة في أسلوب السياسة الدولية التي تعمل على أرض الواقع بعيداً عن النظريات والأيديولوجيا، ولما تتميز به من فنية التخاطب وأسلوب المفاوضة.
2- القادة العسكريون، إذ يجدون فيها مادة غنية عن سير أشهر المعارك وكيف كان يخطط لها، كيف كانت تُدار الحروب؟ أين ومتى تفتح الجبهات، طرق التنفيذ واستخدام الوسائط وأساليب التضليل في المعارك.
