أديب وروائي فرنسي ولد بالقاهرة سنة 1947.
غادر سينويه القاهرة عندما كان في عمر التاسعة عشر إلى فرنسا لدراسة الموسيقى في معهد الدراسات الموسيقية في باريس.
وأصبح عازف جيتار ماهر ولاحقاً بدأ بتعليم الجيتار وابتدأ بالكتابة.
في عام 1987 وفي عمر الأربعين أصدر روايته الأولى " المخطوط القرمزي.
وقد نالت جائزة jean de' heures كأفضل رواية تاريخية.
وفي عام 1989 اصدر رواية" ابن سينا والطريق إلى أصفهان " يروي فيها سيرة حياة ابن سينا و رحلاته.
ومن بعدها انتشرت رواياته بكثرة.
صدرت روايته " المصرية" التي تروي تاريخ مصر في القرن الثامن والتاسع عشر وهي جزء من سلسله صدرت في عام 1991 وقد نالت جائزة الأدب اللاتيني.
وفي رواية " السفيرة" 2002 يروي سينويه السيرة الذاتية لإيما ، الليدي هاميلتون.
وفي عام 2004 صدرت روايته المثيرة " the silence of God" وحازت على جائزة في الروايات البوليسية.
أصبح سينويه كاتبا وقاص معترف به لأنواع مختلفة من الروايات وهو أيضاً سيناريست وكاتب نصوص تلفزيونية.

وصف رواية البكباشي والملك – الطفل مذكرات من مصر (تأليف جيلبرت سينويه):
يبسط ثلاثة ضباط خريطة القيادة العامة في قطار حاشد بالجنود. هم في الثلاثين من العمر، يسمى أحدهم عبد الحكيم عامر والثاني زكريا محيي الدين. أمّا ثالثهم فيدعى جمال، جمال عبد الناصر. وسيلقّب لاحقاً بالبكباشي، وهي رتبة عسكرية تركية تعني قائد الألف" هذا اللقب سيطلق فيما بعد على رتبة عقيد في الجيش المصري عموماً.
الرجل فارع، يبلغ من الطول متراً وأربعة وثمانين سنتمتراً. كحيل العين، ذو ابتسامة تجمع بين السحر والشراسة. كل شيء فيه يشي بالقوة والعزم والإقدام.
