البِرُّ إحدى الصِّفات التي لا تكتمل مكارم الأخلاق إلَّا بها عن النَّوَّاس بن سمعانَ رضي الله عنه سألت رسول الله ﷺ عن البِرِّ والإثم؟ فقال البِرُّ حسن الخلق، والإثم ما حاك في صدرك، وكرهت أن يطَّلع عليه النَّاس.
أنَّ البِرَّ والإحسان إلى النَّاس يعطي هيبة تعين على أمور الدُّنيا والدِّين، فمن أحسن إلى النَّاس عظم في أعينهم، ولقي الاحترام والتوقير، وبادلوه الحبَّ، ممَّا يجعل له مكانته وهيبته في المجتمع، فتعينه تلك المكانة على أموره.
