هذا هو الكتاب الأول من سلسة كتب ألفها الأستاذ الشهيد مرتضى مطهري تحت عنوان: «مقدمة في التصور الإسلامي» ، وفي هذه الكتب يطرح الأستاذ الشهيد نظرة الإسلام العامة إلى الكون والحياة، وتمتاز بالوضوح والابتعاد قدر الإمكان عن التعقيدات الفلسفية والكلامية.
وهي نظرة واقعية إذ تعالج مسائل الفلسفة الإسلامية من خلال معالجة تعامل الإنسان مع واقعه. كما تمتاز بالمنهجية، ومن ثم تصلح أن تصير كتبًا دراسية، فهي مبوبة منظَّمة تنظيمًا مُتدرجًا. وتتسم بالعمق، وإن كانت بسيطة العبارة؛ إذ تستند إلى أعمق المسائل الفلسفية، فالأستاذ الشهيد معروف بصياغة أعقد المسائل في عبارات واضحة ومن خلال أمثلة حية ملموسة.
كما أنها ذات قيمة تربوية، لأنها لا تستهدف تقويم العقل فحسب، بل تتجه إلى النفس الإنسانية فتحاول تهذيبها من خلال كشف الواقع الزائف للاتجاه المادي في التعامل مع الحياة. وقد عُرِف الأستاذ الشهيد في هذا المجال كذلك، إذ قرن التربية الفكرية بالتربية الأخلاقية في تعلُّمه وتعليمه وجسَّد ذلك في حياته عمليًّا.
