ابتليت الأمة الإسلامية عبر تاريخها الطويل بداء الاختلاف المزمن، وتطوعت لقبول نتائجه المرة وآثاره السلبية علىٰ شخصيتها كأمة من الناس وعلىٰ دينها المودع لديها بوثيقة إلهية، وهاهي تطوي الزمان وتسبق غيرها نزولاً بينما يسعىٰ عبيد الأمس في الصعود بكل جدٍ ومثابرةٍ وبمرأىٰ منها، دون أن تلوح بارقة أمل فيها بتحسس الخطر المحدق بهذا المسير ربما يعذّر من أخطأ الطريق جهلاً، أو أساء الاختيار حمقاً، إذ لا تثريب علىٰ ذوي الأعذار، ولكن أين هذه الأمة من الأعذار بل أنىٰ لها الاعتذار بعد النذر ومن قبل؛ قيل: قد اعذر من أنذر.
