نسعى من خلال فصول هذا الكتاب إلى تمكين الطالب من استيعاب أهمية الأنثروبولوجيا كعلم من العلوم الاجتماعية يساهم في تطوير المعرفة الإنسانية, كما نضع بين يدي الطالب الأدوات المنهجية والنظرية المطبقة في هذا العلم والدراسات الميدانية التي نرى أنها ضعيفة ونادرة نتيجة عدم إيمان الباحث العربي بجدوى الدراسات الحقلية في هذا العلم, وهذا مؤكد من مواقف الطلبة على أن هذا العلم لا يعدو أن يكون مجرد معرفة بثقافة الشعوب وتراثهم في الوقت الذي تستفيد من أبحاثه المجتمعات المتقدمة سياسياً واقتصادياً واجتماعياً بل في كل الميادين وهو ما نحاول جاهدين إبرازه في ثنايا الفصول الستة التي خصصناها لتتبع مسار تطور هذا العلم انطلاقاً من إشكالية تحديد مصطلح الأنثروبولوجيا وكذا علاقتها بالعلوم الأخرى وتوضيح ميادينها ومناهجها في البحث وأهم النظريات المطبقة وأخيراً قدمنا دراسة ميدانية تخص البنية والنظام الاجتماعي.
