هذا وإن الرجوع إلى نصوص كتابات مكيافللي، على الرغم من شهرتها في علم السياسة، ليس كافياً للقارئ العربي في تسعينات القرن العشرين. لذا كان لا بد، بالإضافة إلى نص كتاب "الأمير" من التعرف إلى مكانة ودور أفكار مكيافللي في تراث الفكر السياسي، وهو ما اضطلع به التعقيب المسهب الذي كتبه الدكتور فاروق سعد من خلال صفحات هذا الكتاب عارضاً فيه الفكر السياسي في العلم عبر أبرز آثار أعلامه. بالإضافة إلى ذلك فقد ضم الكتاب النص الحرفي لكتاب الأمير مترجماً ترجمة حديثة.
