مكيافيللي هذا هو صاحب مبدأ "الغاية تبرر الوسيلة" وهو المبدأ الذي سلكه في حياته الشخصية, ودفع الثمن حين تم القبض عليه ونفيه, حين أطاحت الجيوش الفرنسية بالمدينة التي ولد فيها وعاش, وعندما قامت الجيوش الغازية بعمل حكومة, سارع من أجل مصلحته في تأييد تلك الحكومة, وكانت مكافأته الترقي في المناصب إلي أن وصل إلي منصب السكرتير الأول لحكومة فلورنسا.
بالطبع محتويات الكتاب وأفكاره تدل علي شخصية كاتبه وفكره, وعلي الرغم من أتجاه مكيافيللي لدراسة المنطق والفلسفة, إلا إنه أهمل مبادئها إهمالاً تاماً, وركز علي التاريخ, وأستخدم طريقة التحليل التاريخي, علي الرغم من أفكاره التي لا تروق لي شخصياً علي الإطلاق, إلا أن كبار الأدباء مدحوه, مثل: "جان جاك روسو", و"هيجل", وغيرهما, بل وأعتبروه أحد أركان عنصر التنوير في أوروبا.
إنها محاولة مني ليتعرف القارئ العربي علي أفكار "مكيافيللي" صاحب مبدأ "الغاية تبرر الوسيلة".
