يسلط مؤلف الكتاب العلّامة الشيخ حسن شاهين ضوء بحثه لبيان أعظم ما حث عليه الإسلام، ألا وهو منح الحريات على الصعد كافة، تلك الحريات التي يتعمد البعض حجبها بظلمات الإدعاءات والأمثلة المغلوطة والممارسات التي لا تمت لجوهر الإسلام بصلة، والحرية التي دعا إليها الإسلام إنما هي مشتقة من جوهره النوراني ولا تصب إلا في مصلحة الناس كافة، وقد قُيدت بعدم الضرر بالنفس أو بالغير، أما بخصوص تقسيم الكتاب ونظراً لسعة الطرح فقد خص المؤلف في القسم الأول أهم الحريات الممنوحة والمكفولة، وكان للثاني نصيب مناسب من إضاءات جليلة لموضوعات منوعة لا شك بعظيم إفادتها للطرح القيم. وقد تلألأ غلاف الكتاب بكلمة للؤلف (ليست الحرية أن تفعل ما تشاء كيف تشاء أو أن تطلق لغرائزك العنان وإلا كانت انفلاتاً وتحللاً من كل القيم الإنسانية) فقد أوجزتْ وقطعتْ نزاع الأقاويل والمهاترات المترامية حول تعدد معاني الحرية وتعدد ممارستها، وكانت صائبة ومصحِحة لما يساء فهمه حول استعمال وممارسة الحريات بشكل خاطئ.
