فى أبريل 2004 أسست مجموعة من الباحثين المهتمين بدراسة الفكر الاسلامى على المستويين النظرى والحركى مركزا يحمل اسم " المركز العربى لدراسات الاسلام والديمقراطية " بهدف دعم أفكار التسامح والتعايش السلمى بين اتباع كافة الديانات وتأكيد مفاهيم المواطنة والحوار وقبول الأخر ولن المركز يؤمن بضرورة التعامل والتفاعل مع كافة القوى والتيارات الفكرية والسياسية فانة لم يجد حرجا فى قبول العرض الذى تقدم به مركز ابن خلدون لاصدار مجموعة من الكتيبات لتعريف الغرب بالاسلام على ان يكون اولها عن الاسلام وحرية الرأى والتعبير " يصدر باللغة العربية وتتم ترجمته الى اللغة الانجليزية وتوزيعة فى الولايات المتحدة المريكية واوروبا الغربية جاء قبول العرض من منطلق ان المستهدف من سلسلة الكتيبات هو الطرح العلمى الموضوعى للخطاب الاسلامى الحقيقى والرد على الصورة النمطية السلبية السائدة تم اعداد الكتاب متضمنا ثلاثة فصول ويتمحور حول تسليط الضوء على حقيقة ان الاسلام الصحيح يؤمن بالتعددية الفكرية ويدعو الى حرية الاخر فى الاحتفاظ بعقيدته المخالفة فلا اكراه فى الدين ولا اعتداء على الاخر المسالم المفاجاة المحرزنة جاءت عندما اعاد ابن خلدون مخطوطة الكتاب وعليها ملاحظات اقل ما يقال عنها انها تكشف عن حقيقة رؤية غربية لا تسعى الى شرح حقيقة الاسلام بل تسعى الى تكريس الوجه السلبى المنفر المغلوط من هنا جاء رفضا للتامل مع مركز ابن خلدون او التعاطى مع ملاحظاته احترامامنا الحرية الراى والتعبير التى دائما ما تشدق بها المركز والقائمين . وذى هذا الكتاب سنتعرض لملاحظات بن خلدون وسنرد عليها وسنعرض بضاعتنا التى رفض المركز طباعتها على الناس للاحتكام لهم وعلى الله قصد السبيل .
