• ولد في القاهرة في العاشر من شهر ديسمبر سنة 1933، وتخرج من كلية الطب بجامعة القاهرة في يناير سنة 1956 ثم عمل كطبيب امتياز ثم نائبا للأمراض العصبية في مستشفى النيل الجامعي.
حصل على دبلوم الأمراض العصبية والنفسية في مايو سنة 1956.
ثم حضر للعمل في دولة الكويت بمستشفى الطب النفسي سنة 1959 إلى أن أصبح طبيبا استشاريا بالطب النفسي بعد حصوله على دبلوم الأمراض الباطنية سنة 1971 ودكتوراه الطب النفسي والعقلي سنة 1972 من كلية طب عين شمس.
• تلقى تدريبه في علم وظائف الجهاز العصبي الإكلينيكي بجامعة جوتنبرج بالسويد ثم تدرب على العلاج النفسي المسلكي في مستشفى سان جورج بلندن.
• عيّن أستاذ مساعد للطب النفسي بكلية طب الأزهر بالقاهرة سنة 1982.
• للمؤلف أبحاث عديدة في تخطيط المخ الكهربائي والإدمان والاضطرابات النفسية والجنسية نشرت في دوريات علمية عالمية.
