الرواية تتمحور حول مخلوقة إسمها خيال من نوع من المخلوقات تسمى الآجاتا و التي ذات روح جن و جسد إنسان و التي سوف تبحث عن طرق لإيجاد بوابة كونية و التي سوف تسافر إلى عالم البشر و بالظبط في المغرب . سوف تجدها فتاة و تأخذها للإشتغال في القصر و التي سوف تتزوج بذلك السلطان بعد إيجادها علاج لمرض فتاك و سيقتل المستعمرون زوجها و تقوم بإبادتهم و صنع قلعة من جماجهم لكي تبقى عبرة لمن تجرئ على البلاد
