تستند هذه الرواية إلى شهادات شخصية، وإلى موسوعات ووثائق ومذكرات وكتب تاريخية.
لكن كل مايعبر رؤية الروائي يتلون بألوانها. تلونت حتى الشهادات بهوى رواتها. ولعل في المذكرات التاريخية نفسها أطياف من رؤى أصحابها. لذلك قاطعتها بالوثيقة، كيلا يسجل المؤرخ أن مناخ الرواية وأحداثها غير صحيحة. مع أني لم أقصد تأليف رواية تاريخية.
لكني أبحت لنفسي أن أستقرئ وأن أشيّد الممكن والمستحيل، بحق تستند هذه الرواية إلى شهادات شخصية، وإلى موسوعات ووثائق ومذكرات وكتب تاريخية.

لكني أبحت لنفسي أن أستقرئ وأن أشيّد الممكن والمستحيل، بحقوق الروائي الذي يريد أن يصوغ مثلا جميلة ومؤثرة، وخالدة أكثر من أصولها وظلالها. مندفعة برغبتي في أن تكون محبوبة. وأترك للمختص البحث في الصلة بين النماذج وأصولها، بين الوثيقة وأدائها، بين الحقيقة الفنية والحقيقة الواقعية.
