من مواليد الكويت عام 1941.
حصل على درجة الدكتوراه في جامعة تكساس أوستن عام 1976، والماجستير في جامعة لوفيل الأميركية.
رئيس قسم علم الاجتماع والخدمة الاجتماعية، وكان عميداً لكلية الآداب بجامعة الكويت.
أحد مؤسّسي مجلة العلوم الاجتماعي ورئيس تحريرها بين 1983 و1986.
ولد الدكتور خلدون النقيب يوم 16 سبتمبر سنة 1941 وينتمي بالأصل إلى عائلة النقيب البصرية العراقية التي تولت لسنين طويلة نقابة أشراف البصرة والتي برز منها السيد طالب النقيب الذي رشح ليكون ملكا على العراق بعد انتهاء الحرب العالمية الأولى وكان وزيرا للداخلية في أول حكومة تشكلت في العراق سنة 1920 .أكمل دراسته الأولية والثانوية وسافر إلى القاهرة ليلتحق بجامعتها ويحصل على البكالوريوس في علم الاجتماع سنة 1963 .ومن جامعة لويسفيل الأميركية حصل على الماجستير في علم النفس الاجتماعي وبعدها نال الدكتوراه من تكساس سنة 1976 وعاد إلى الكويت ليسهم في بناء وطنه.
وكان من المناصب العلمية التي شغلها النقيب منصب عميد كلية الآداب في جامعة الكويت مرتين الأولى بين 1978-1981 والثانية بين (1986-1992 ) .كما أصبح رئيسا لتحرير مجلة العلوم الاجتماعية وهي مجلة علمية أكاديمية محكمة (1983-1986 ).
والدكتور النقيب عضو هيئة تحرير في مجلات علمية تهتم بعلم النفس الاجتماعي منها المجلة الدولية لعلم النفس الاجتماعي التطبيقي التي تصدر باللغة الانكليزية .كما كان له دوره الفاعل في إصدار مجلة حوليات كلية الآداب (الكويتية ) ولعل ما يمكننا التأكيد عليه، انه كان لسنوات طويلة في الثمانينات والتسعينات من القرن الماضي واحدا من كتاب جريدة القبس (الكويتية ) اليومية.
توفي في 26 أبريل العام 2011
