حاولَت الممرضات تَهدئتَها بأنَّ كل شيء سيكون على ما يرام، أتى الطبيب الأربعيني وهو يحادثها بكلمات طيبة ويطلب منها أن تردد خلفه أدعية وأذكار لتهدأ روحها، استسلمت وأسلمت نفسها وروحها لله ليفعل بهما ما يشاء.. ترى هل تغمض عينيها لتفتحهما على وليدِها أم على سقف قبرها؟ ترى هل ترى زوجها مرة أخرى؟ هل فاتها أن تقول له إنها تحبه بشدة، هل تدفنها والدتها أم تدفن هي والدتها؟؟ مَن سيرى عزاء مَن؟ هي أمُّ أختها؟ تركت كل هذه الأسئلة وراء ظهرها والمخدر يسري كالبرق في جسدها وهي تردد أرقامًا وراء طبيب التخدير، كان آخر ما فاتها من حديث طبيب التخدير وهو يقول: - هيَّا رددي معي من واحد إلى عشرة. - واحد ، اثنان، ثلا... أحسَّت بها مثل ثانية واحدة أُظلِمَت الدنيا وأُضيئَتْ، لتأتيها الأصوات والأضواء المختلفة، سمعت صوت الممرضة تقول لها في صوت حنونٍ بَاسمٍ: - مبروك يا "ناهد".. رغم بقية من تأثير المخدر شعرت أنها واعية للحديث فأسرعت تقول في إنهاكٍ: - ولكن أنا لست "ناهد".
