استهلت الدكتورة سعاد الحيكم مسيرة البحث في العلوم الصوفية بعملها الضخم المعجم الصوفي، وقد أتاح لها هذا التوغل في العالم الفكري اللغوي للمتصوفة وبالأخص عالم محيي الدين بن عربي أن تمضي أشواطًا أبعد، وها هي في كتابها الجديد ابن عربي ومولد لغة جديدة، تقوم بدراسة ميدانية استقصائية لمفردات الشيخ الأكبر، وتبحث آلية توليد المصطلحات لديه، وتهتدي إلى حركية فكره اللغوي والقانون الذي يربط توليد هذه المصطلحات بتصوّره للعالم. وقد بيّنت المؤلفة في هذا الكتاب أن ابن عربي نقل الحضور الصوفي من حضور للأعماق إلى لغة وجودية، وحقق فتحًا لغويًا حين حوّل اللفظ المفرد من لالته على الذات إلى دلالته على معنى يقوم في الذات، ثم استعار هذا المعنى وبالتركيب والإضافة كانت تتفلّق معه أسماء جديدة لمسميات جديدة مؤلفة لغة جديدة، وهو ما تفصله الكاتبة.
