شهدت الفترة ما بين 1919 – 1922 حدثان هامان جدًا يتعلقان بالفعل المُشين الذي ارتّكب بحق أرمن الدولة العثمانية؛ الأول في إسطنبول، حيث تشكلت المحاكم العسكرية الاستثنائية لمحاكمة الجرائم ضد الإنسانية التي وقعت في الإمبراطورية خلال الحرب العالمية الأولى، والثاني صدور مذكرات المسؤول العثماني نعيم أفندي، السكرتير الأول في مديرية السوقيات في حلب، التي تضمنت برقيات طلعت باشا الأصلية التي تخص أوامر تهجير وإبادة الأرمن".
والاثنان، وثائق المحاكمات ووثائق المذكرات، يشكلان أدلة حاسمة في إثبات نية جمعية الاتحاد والترقي (صاحبة السلطة المطلقة حينها) في التخلص النهائي والأبدي من الأرمن؛ لكونهما صادرتين من جهات عثمانية رسمية، لكن ما حدث هو أن الحكومات التركية المتعاقبة حاولت ولازالت تحاول إخفاء الأولى أو تدميرها، كما نجحت حتى تاريخ صدور هذا العمل في وصم الثانية بالمزورة.
لكن هناك تعبير تركي يقول: "للحقائق عادة سيئة وهي أنها في نهاية المطاف تأتي تحت النور" فقد استطاع البروفيسور تنارأكجام بعد بحث مضني وشاق لسنوات أن يصل إلى الكثير من وثائق جلسات محاكم اسطنبول الاستثنائية التي كانت قد وصلت إلى القدس بعد مرورها في مرسيليا (فرنسا) ومانشستر (بريطانيا).
في هذا العمل تنار أكجام، الذي أطلقت عليه جريدة نيويورك تايمز لقب "شرلوك هولمز القضية الأرمنية،" البرقيات الموجودة في مذكرات نعيم أفندي حتى أدق التفاصيل وقارنها مع آلاف الوثائق من الأرشيف العثماني (طرق التشفير، تواقيع والي حلب، تواريخ البرقيات، الأشخاص والأحداث المذكورة في المذكرات،.....إلخ)، وتوصل إلى أن البرقيات التي قدمها نعيم أفندي أصلية".
