حسين توفيق صبي صغير يعيش في حي المعادي ويكون فرقة من الصبية لاغتيال جنود الإحتلال البريطاني في مصر قبل أن يلتقي بأنور السادات ضابط الجيش ليعيد تعليمه مبادئ الوطنية، ويدفعه لاغتيال ساسة مصريين.
ينجح التنظيم الصغير في اغتيال أمين عثمان، ويتم تهريب توفيق إلى سوريا ليؤسس تنظيما آخرا يحاول من خلاله اغتيال رئيس الدولة. ويُحكم عليه بالاعدام وينجو بسبب انقلاب ضد نظام الحكم السوري ويعود لمصر فيحاول اغتيال الرئيس عبد الناصر ويقبض عليه ليحكم عليه بالسجن الأبدي. وهناك يكتشف أنه كان دائما أداة لقوى أخرى استخدمته باسم الوطنية.
