في قلب المدينة المتحفظة على أسرارها، يعزف "شاهين" في الخامسة والعشرين من العمر نغمات حياته المنطوية برفقة الكتب التي تحتل كل ركن من أركان منزله الذي يسكنه وحيداً، منذ أن خطفت الأقدار عائلته في عُمر الزهور. تغلف الصفحات حزنه وتخبئ ضمن أسطرها هوسه، وتتحول الكلمات إلى ملاذٍ من عقدته النفسية ومسكّن لوهج ألمه الدفين.
فجأة، تطل الفتاة الجديدة "تالين" تلك الجارة الغامضة كنسمةٍ مفاجئة لتُطوف في الأجواء المحيطة بفناء شاهين الصامت. تحيك إطلالتها على حياته سلسلة من فصول القرب الوجداني، تنساب مشاعر الحب الهادئ لتعيد لقلبه نبضه الضائع.
ببطء ولكن بثبات، تتفتح براعم قصتهم في ظل شمس الصمت والألفة الناشئة، ويجد شاهين نفسه محاطاً بورود تلك العاطفة التي غابت عن حياته طويلاً. لكن وراء وجه تالين الملائكي وابتسامتها التي تُخفي قصصاً مغلفة بالألغاز، تكمن حقيقةٌ دفينة لا يمكن للحبر والورق أن يمحوا أثرها.
تشاء الأقدار أن يكشف شاهين ما لم يتوقعه أحد، فتأتي اللحظة التي يتجلى فيها وجه الحقيقة بكامل قسوتها، جاعلةً من كل صفحة قُرِئت، وكل سطرٍ عُشِق، مجرد مقدمة لعرضٍ لم يكن في الحسبان.
