لما كان في دعاء العبد المسلم لربه كل خير في الدنيا والآخرة، كما جاء معنا في الفصل الأول من الكتاب ، كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يحرص كل الحرص على أن يسأل ربه استجابة دعاؤه ، ويستعيذ به سبحانه أن لا يستجيب له ، وهو صلى الله عليه وسلم المستجاب الدعاء قطعًا ويقينًا، وإنما بيان ذلك من لزوم العبودية لله، وتبليغ رسالته، وتعليم أمته ، لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم في دعائه لربه: «...، رَبِّ تَقَبَّلْ تَوْبَتِي، وَاغْسِلْ حَوْبَتِي، وَأَجِبْ دَعْوَتِي، ...».
ولقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم : « اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا».
