يُحكى أن في قديم الزمان سيطر السحر على عقول الناس، فجعلهم يفعلون أشياء مُشينة تُغضب الله، لم يعد إيمان البعض قويًا فلجؤوا إلى السحر بدلًا من أن يتضرعون لربهم ويطلبون منه النجاة، بل طلب البعض منهم النجاة من السحرة ليفعلوا بعد ذلك بهم ما يشاءون فكان الحال من المحال، ولم يعد يسود الخير إلا قليل، ونسوا حديث الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم:
«إذا سألت فسأل الله وإذا استعنت فاستعن بالله».
