Echnaton gehört zu den umstrittensten Herrschern des alten Ägypten. Seine religiösen Reformen, insbesondere die Einführung des Aton-Kultes und die Abkehr vom traditionellen Polytheismus, markierten einen entscheidenden Wendepunkt in der ägyptischen Geschichte. Diese tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in Kunst, Religion und Politik werden oft kritisch betrachtet, da sie zu erheblichen Umwälzungen führten.
