دانييل هاندلر هو روائي وكاتب نصوص سينمائية أمريكي اشتهر برواياته التي كتبها تحتت اسم ليموني سنيكيت ولد دانييل هاندلر دانييل هاندلر في مدينة سان فرانسيسكو بولاية كاليفورنيا عام 1970 وتخرج من مدرسة كومادور سلوات الابتدائية، ثم مدرسة هاربرت هوفر المتوسطة، ثم ثانوية لويل.
تخرج هاندلر من جامعة ويسليان في عام 1992، كما تخرج من كورال فتيان سان فرانسيسكو.
وهو متزوج من ليزا براون Lisa Brown ولديهما صبي يُدعى أوتو (Otto) كتاباته: قصص أدبية، كوميديا سوداء وأدب اطفال عرف دانييل باسمه المسنعار ليموني سنيكت كما أن هاندلر ناشط سياسي وقد ساعد على تكوين ( LitPAC ) "لجنة العمل السياسي الأمريكي".
أربع من روايات هاندلر (Handler) نشرت تحت اسمه الحقيقي .
منهاروايته الأولى الثمانية الأساسيون (The Basic Eight)، رفض الكثير من الناشرين نشرها بسبب موضوعها ولهجتها (النظرة السوداوية لـ حياة فتاة مراهقة).
وزعم هاندلر أن الرواية قد رُفضت سبع وثلاثين مرة قبل أن تُنشر أخيراً.
لهجة الكتاب كانت بــ مثابة قوة دافعة من نوع ما لــ أعماله ( الحزينة ؛ سلسلة الأحداث المأساوية (A Series of Unfortunate Events وهي من أكثر أعماله شهرة ونُشرت تحت اسمه المُستعار ليموني سنيكيت (LemonySnicket).
أما آخر أعماله فــ هي رواية ظروف (Adverbs)؛ والتي هي عبارة عن سلسلة من القصص القصيرة التي قال "أنها عن الحب"، ونُشرت في أبريل 2006.
صرح هاندلر بــ أن روايته الجديدة لــ البالغين ســ تكون عن القراصنة (pirates) أو بــ دقة أكبر عن قراصنة العصر الحديث، الذين يرغبوا بــ أن يكونوا كــ قراصنة العصور القديمة.

I'm sorry to say that the book you are holding in your hands is extremely unpleasant. It tells an unhappy tale about three very unlucky children. Even though they are charming and clever, the Baudelaire siblings lead lives filled with misery and woe. From the very first page of this book when the children are at the beach and receive terrible news, continuing on through the entire story, disaster lurks at their heels. One might say they are magnets for misfortune. In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and cold porridge for breakfast. It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy, if you prefer that sort of thing.
