توجهت إلى المرآة و قفت تستفقد البروز حتى اطمأنت لاختفائه، تمتمت في مرارة: ها قد استعدت السيطرة، فلتتلو يا درويشي قصيدة جديدة لفتاتك التي أحالوا توأمي الحجل على صدرها لتوأمي حجر، قبل أن يئدهما، فمن الآن لن يتطلع إليها فئران القرية و لا أحد سينتظرها، قالت ثم انحنت فلملمت آخر الدموع المتساقطة على الأرض، أغلقت الزجاجة جيدا، رجتها بعنف ثم فتحتها، سكبتها على الظل الملقى خلفها، لتملأه بفراغ جديد، فتحت نافذتها المطلة على الطريق الأسفلتي، ألقت منها بالزجاجة الفارغة، استندت بذراعيها على السور، تنتظر صوت ارتطامها، فلم تسمع سوى أصداء لحن القرية "قولوا لأبوها ان كان جعان يتعشى، قولوا لابوها الدم غطى الفرشة"
