لي تخيل معين في الفرق بين Action Script 2 و Action Script 3 وهو أنك تتعامل مع برنامج فلاش تكون كمدرس الفصل الذي يريد أن يعطي تعليماته للطلبة ففي وضعية Action Script 2 أنت مضطر أن تذهب إلى كل طالب وتملي عليه بعض الأوامر، فتخبر هذا: أنت عليك فعل ذلك وتخبر أخر: أنت لا تفعل هذا، وهكذا إذا أردت أن ينفذ جميع الطلاب أوامرك عليك ان تذهب لكل طالب بمفرده وتخبره بما يجب عليه فعله وإذا أردت تعديل تعليماتك فعليك أن تعيد الكره مرة أخرى وتذهب إلى مكان كل طالب لتخبره أنك قد غيرت قراركبالنسبة له يبدو الأمر ممل وصعب وغير عملي بالمرة، أما مدرس في وضعية Action Script 3 كل ما عليك هو كتابة الأوامر إجمالاً في ورقة واحدة وتعليقها في أول الفصل، وإذا كنت تريد إعطاء أمر معين لطالب معين، يمكنك كتابة اسم الطالب في الورقة وإعلامه بالأوامر المطلوب منه تنفذيهاـ وأما إذا كان هناك تعديل فما عليك سوى القيام بذلك في ورقة الأوامر المعلقة في الفصل، ألا يبدو الأمر في الوضعية الثانية أسهل بكثير وأفضل وأكثر حكمة، والأروع من ذلك أنك يمكنك استخدام نفس الورقة بأوامرها لفصل أخر بل لفصول أخرى دون جهد جهيد، هذا هو ما نستعرضه ونتناوله في فصول هذا الكتاب وهي كالتالي: (الفصل الأول: Action Script Panel، الفصل الثاني: المتغيرات والثوابت، الفصل الثالث: العمليات البرمجية، الفصل الرابع: المصفوفات Arrays، الفصل الخامس: الحلقات التكرارية، الفصل السادس: التنفيذ الشرطي، الفصل السابع: الوظائف البرمجية، الفصل الثامن: الكائنات والفئات البرمجية، الفصل التاسع: الكائنات البصرية، الفصل العاشر: Display List، الفصل الحادي عشر: الأحداث).
