يعرض هذا الكتاب لتاريخ ملكية الأراضي الزراعية في مصر خلال مائة وخمسين عاماً تبدأ من عام 1800 حتى عام 1950، وهي الأعوام الحاسمة التي شهدت القضاء على نظام ملكية الأراضي الزراعية الذي كان سائداً خلال الحكم العثماني على يد محمد علي وما انتهى إليه من قيام الملكيات الكبيرة والطبقات الاجتماعية التي أفرزتها تلك الملكيات والتي بقيت تسود حتى ثورة يوليو 1952. كما تناول المؤلف في بحثه نظام ملكية الأراضي الزراعية وفقاً لقانون الإصلاح الزراعي الذي صدر عقب قيام ثورة يوليو 1952.
