فازت الرواية بجائزة كتارا للرواية العربية فئة الروايات غير المنشورة في دورتها السابعة 2021.
ترتكز الرواية على رؤية سردية متخيلة عن تلبس روح شخصية ميتة عاشت خلال الحرب العالمية الأولى، بجسد أحد أحفادها غير المباشرين لتروي لنا حكاية الحب الذي جمعها بأحد أبناء الأعيان في بغداد، الذي وضع اسمه جبرًا وظلمًا في قوائم المتطوعين بعد إعلان الدولة العثمانية النفير العام واصطفافها إلى جانب دول المركز.
في الرواية انتقالات زمنية إلى الماضي في بدايات القرن العشرين، ومن ثم انتقال الى آخر سبعينيات القرن الماضي. كانت الروح تنتقل بين أجساد من يحملون اسمها بغية التقرب من حبيبها الذي ما إن عاد إلى بغداد بعد سِني الأسر حتى اختفت هي في غياهب النهر. كما نجد في الرواية مذكرات المجند مصطفى التكمه جي حبيب كِتْبَة في جزأين، الأول وصل لعائلته بعد اجتياح القوات الروسية لمنطقة أرضروم واختفائه، لكن أحد المجندين وجد أغراضه وأعادها إلى أهله، والجزء الثاني ما كتبه مصطفى بعد رحلة العذاب وعودته إلى بغداد واصفًا وقوعه أسيرًا بيد القوات الروسية وسنوات الأسر ورحلة العودة.
