كتاب يتناول فكرة حال الفناء في التصوف الإسلامي عموماً ، والتصوف السني على وجه الخصوص، بما يعادل أن يكون الفناء هو لب لباب التجربة الصوفية، حتى إذا ما قلنا تجربة صوفية قلنا في الوقت نفسه حال الفناء الصوفي. يتحدث الكتاب في دقة توظف المصطلحات الصوفية توظيفاً ليس هو بالبعيد عن الصواب ثم يتناول المقامات والأحوال الصوفية ليصل إلى حال الفناء ثم يعرج في القسم الثاني إلى دراسة الفكرة لدى أبي القاسم الجنيد والغزالي مقارنة علمية دقيقة مع وضع الاعتبار منهجية الدراسة ذوقية ذات دلالة واعتبار.
