يتناول هذا الكتاب المعادن الأثرية بداية من الفلزات التي تشكلها، وطرق استخلاصها من خاماتها ثم السبائك التي صنعت منها، والظروف التي تؤدي إلى تلفها وتعرضها للصدأ والتآكل، وذلك من خلال عرض لأهم الفلزات التي استخدمت قديماً في الصناعات المعدنية وسبائكها، وسلوكهل في البيئات المتلفة وميكانيكية صدأها وتآكلها، وطرق علاجها وصيانتها، ثم طرق وقاية المعادن الأثرية من الصدأ والتآكل في بيئتي العرض والتخزين.
