لقد الكاتب أن ظاهرة التطرف الديني نتاج لجملة من الاعتقادات والممارسات السلبية التي لجأ إليها بعض الناس - دون اختصاص بدين من الأديان – منذ القدم؛ بسبب أمراض اجتماعية أو نفسية أو سياسية أو اقتصادية؛ لكن هذه الظاهرة ألصقت بخبث في زماننا بالإسلام والمسلمين، وساعدت وسائل الإعلام في تشويه صورة ديننا وتقديمه للناس باعثًا لهذه الظاهرة ومغذّيًا لها بتعاليمه ومعتقداته، يتماشى ذلك مع إصرار عالميٍ مريب على عدم إيجاد تعريف محدد لظاهرة التطرف والإرهاب؛ لأجل استخدامها سلاحًا يسلِّط على رقاب الخصوم، والعمل على إلصاق هذه التهمة بهم كلما لزم الأمر.
ولفت الكاتب النظر إلى حقيقة أن كثيراً من مظاهر التطرف والإرهاب قد انبثقت ردةَ فعل من الشعوب المظلومة التي غزيت بلادها، ونهبت ثرواتها، واستبدّ بها حكامها، مع تواطؤ مفضوح من أكثر دول العالم التي تتباكى على قيم الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب الماتع في ثلاثة فصول، الأول منها في حقيقة التطرف الديني، وثانيها أمثلة من أحداث ووقائع عنه، وآخرها في حفظ الله لأنبيائه من التطرف.
