لم يزل أهل العلم يُعنَون بكتب الأثبات والأسانيد؛ لارتباطها الوثيق بعلم الحديث والرواية والتراجم والتاريخ ودواوين السُّنة وكتب العلوم. وقد اعتنى كثير من العلماء بتأليف هذا النوع من الكتب، ولعلماء اليمن نصيبٌ وافرٌ منه، ومنهم المحدِّث السيد الطاهر بن حسين الأهدل الزبيدي الشافعي (ت997هـ)، ويعدُّ ثبَته من الأثبات اليمانية المهمة، لمنزلة السيد الطاهر في عصره ومصره، وتتابُع ثناء العلماء والمؤرِّخين عليه، وتتلمذه على العلّامة ابن الدَّيبَع (ت944هـ)، وأخذه عنه كثيرًا من كتب الحديث والعلوم وسماعه منه. وقد تميز ثبَت الطاهر هذا بذكر طرق التحمل وضبطها، وعدم التساهل في صِيَغِها كما وقع لغيره من الخلط بين صيغ التحمل سماعًا وإجازةً والاكتفاء بعبارة أخبرنا ونحوها.
لذلك كله كانت لهذا الثبَت منزلة معتبَرة في سلسلة الأثبات اليمانية وغيرها، وصار عمدةً تدور أثباتٌ تَلَـتْهُ، كما فصّله المحقق الكريم في مقدمته.
