يعد علم نفس النمو أحد أهم فروع علم النفس لذا فقد أولاه علماء النفس أهمية كبرى لما شمل من محاور ضرورية لفهم مراحل نمو النفسي والسلوكي المرحلة الجنينية إلى مرحلة الشيوخية علم النفس النمو أحد فروع علم النفس "ويهتم بدراسة الكائن الإنساني منذ تكوين البويضة المخصبة داخل رحم الأم ونمو الجنين في فترة الحمل فالولادة ثم بعد الولادة رضيعا فطفلا فمراهقا فشابا فرجلا فكهلا" ومن هذا المنطلق وجب على كل إنسان الإحاطة بهذا العلم لحاجته إليه أولا لفهم أنماط حياته الشخصية وما يعتريهم تغييرات نفسية وجسدية وسلوكية عبر كل مراحل نموه وأيضا ليستطيع فهم تجليات هذه المرحلة في الاخرين, وأولهم أسرته المقربة منه ثم باقي العائلة وكل من يتفاعل معه وبالتالي يستطيع التعامل مع كل مرحلة من مراحل حياتهم حسب ما تقتضيه من اجراءات.
كل هذه الأسباب وغيرها جعلتني أفكر في ضروره إيصال هذا العلم إلى عموم الناس وخاصة الآباء منهم ثم إلى الطلبة المهتمين بهذا المجال.
