تدور أحداث الرواية فى النوبة بعد بناء السد العالى وتهجير أهل النوبة ويسعون ككل الأقليات فى العالم أن يستردوا أرضهم . بطلة الرواية هى زينة التى لا تموت لأنها إله النيل ومصر كلها , عمرها من عمر النيل . أنجبت بنت سمتها دهب سافرت إلى فرنسا للدراسة وعادت لتملأ الفرحة بعلمها على أهلها . أفسحت زينة الطريق لدهب لتقود البلاد إلى بر السلامة . والحكاية هى دهب السمراء ذات الشهر المجعد فى ضفائر رفيعة منسدل إلى كتفيها وظهرها. عليها "فستان" أزرق طويل يغطى جسدها كله تغرس قدميها فى صندل من الجلد البنى صنع لها فى النوبة . فإن أمكن أن يكون الغلاف لتلك الفتاة التى تبلغ من العمر خمسة وعشرون ربيعا غاية فى القوة والجمال والحيوية ولم لا فإنها إبنة إله النيل. والجدير بالذكر أن هذا العمل الثاني بين الدكتور عاطف ودار غراب العمل الاول رواية الجدع
