يتحدث الكتاب عن الصحابي الجليل أبو ذر الغفاري ولد أبو ذر في قبيلة غفار بين مكة والمدينة، وقد اشتهرت هذه القبيلة بالسطو، وقطع الطريق على المسافرين والتجار وأخذ أموالهم بالقوة، وكان أبو ذَرّ رجلاً يصيب الطريق، وكان شجاعًا يقطع الطريق وحده، ويُغير على الناس في عماية الصبح على ظهر فرسه أو على قدميه كأنه السبع، فيطرق الحي ويأخذ ما يأخذ.
