تبدو اهمية الدور الذى تلعبه البوك فى مجال اموال الاستثمار المشتركة حيث لم تعد دورها قاصرا على الوظائف المصرفية التقلدية من مزاولة عمليات الائتمان كتلقى الودائع من الافراد والمشروعات وتقديم القروض للمشروعات لتمويلها واصدار الشيكات وخصم الكمبيالات واصدار خطابات الضمان والاعتمادات المستندية وايجار الخذائن الحديدية وغير ذلك من العمليات التقليدية وانما اصبح للبنوك دورا حديدا ووظائف جديدة تواكب التطورات الهالمية فى الحركة الاقتصادية0 مناهم واخطر هذة الادوار هو دورها كامناء حفظ ومالك مسجل وبنوك ايداع وامناء استثمار حيث تقوم بادارة محافظ الاوراق المالية التى تكونها بنفسها او تديرها لحساب الجهات التى تقوم بتكوينها ودخولها فى النظام القانونى لاموال الاستثمار المشتركة0 وقد كان لهذا الدور الذى قامت به البنوك فى مجال اموال الاستثمار المشتركة وقيامها بالتعامل فى الاوراق المالية اثره البالغ فى زيادة عائداتها وارباحها وفتح مجالات جديدة لتوظيف اموالها واستثمارتها مما ساعد على انتعاش اسواق الاوراق المالية فى كثيرا من البلدان وانعكس هذا الاثر على المدخرين الذين توجهوا بمدخراتهم صوب هذه البنوك 0 ولا يقتصر اثر تعامل البنوك فى الاوراق المالية على تكوينها وادارتها باعتبارها امناء استثمار على زيادة مواردها وتوظيفاتها وجذب مدخرات الافراد والجهاتاليها فحسب وانما يمتد اثر تعاملات البنوك فى هذا المجال وقت الشدة عندما تواجه الدولة والجهات والافراد مشاكل تتعلق بالسيولة النقدية حيث تعتبر الاوراق المالية التى تتضمنها محافظ الاوراق المالية هى الملجأ الذى تلجأ اليه البنوك فى هذه الاوقات للتقليل من حجم الخسائر وتجنب الكثير من المخاطر لسرعة تحويلها وتصفيتها من الاصول المالية الاجرى0
