يهتم البحث بدراسة كفاءة التوزيع الجغرافي لمدارس التعليم الأساسي في قرى مركز أطفيح، من خلال تشخيص واقع الخدمات التعليمية الأساسية، وتقييم هذا الواقع من خلال معرفة مدى مطابقة هذه الخدمات مع المعايير المختلفة المحلية والإقليمية والعالمية باستخدام أساليب التحليل الإحصائي، وتقنية نظم المعلومات الجغرافية في إنتاج خرائط تبين مواقع خدمات التعليم الأساسي ونطاق تأثيرها. فالخدمات التعليمية تعتبر إحدى نظم التوزيعات المكانية بما تتطلبة من مؤسسات تعليمية تشكل علامة بارزة في مظهر سطح الأرض الحضاري، وبما يتعلق بتوزيع تلك المؤسسات، والمعروف أن الجغرافيين معنيون بدرجة كبيرة بالتوزيعات، والتنظيم والتراتب المكاني، وأنماط الظواهر الطبيعية والبشرية، والتي تشكل أهم محاور دراساتهم ومادة أولية للبحث الجغرافي. فالتوزيع ما هو إلا مقدمة لدراسة الخصائص التوزيعية المختلفة للتعرف على مبلغ التوازن الخدمي بين أجزاء منطقة الدراسة.
