كان رسول الله مثلاً أعلى للإنسانية الكاملة، وكانت شخصيته الخُلُقية شخصية كاملة سامية متعددة النواحي، وقد اجتمع فيه محاسن الآداب ومكارم الأخلاق ما لم يجتمع لغيره من الناس؛ سواء في شبابه وفي رجولته؛ سواء قبل بعثته وبعدها، وقد أجمع المتقدمون والمتأخرون من الرواة والمؤرخين في الشرق والغرب على أنه عُرِف في صباه وشبابه بالصدق والأمانة، والتمسك بالفضائل، والترفع عن الرذائل وقد أعده الله تعالى للنهوض بأعباء الرسالة ونشر الدين الحنيف بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة.
