• حصل على البكالوريوس من كلية التجارة بجامعة الملك سعود بالرياض عام 1963.
• تلقى تعليمه العالي في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية فحصل على شهادة الماجستير في الإدارة من جامعة منيسوتا عام 1966، ثم حصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في الإدارة العامة من الجامعة الأمريكية بواشنطن في مطلع عام 1970.
• تدرج في السلك الأكاديمي فحصل على درجة أستاذ عام 1979.
• عمل عميداً لكلية التجارة , وكلية العلوم الاجتماعية , وكلية الدراسات العليا، مستشار في عدة هيئات علمية, وعضو في هيئة تحرير المجلة العربية للإدارة, ومجلة العلوم الاجتماعية.
• له العديد من المؤلفات والدواوين الشعرية.

أصبحت مشكلة الزواج العرفي خطرا يهدد استقرار المجتمع وينذر بانتشار العديد من المشكلات والآثار السيئة المترتبة عليه، وقد انتشر الزواج العرفي في الآونة الأخيرة على مستوى العالم بصورة مخيفة؛ لذلك أصبحت الظاهرة محل نظر ودراسة للبحث عن حل جذري لها، فالزواج هو إحدى السنن الكونية المنظمة لضمان بقاء الجنس البشري وتناسله بطريقة تضمن لكل طرف من أطراف الزواج حقوقه، وتلزمه بأداء واجباته وذلك في ظل قيود وأحكام شرعية وقانونية.
