قضية "التحيز فى الثقافات" ومعرفة أبعادها فى تدافع الحضارات الإنسانية، أمر على أكبر قدر من الاهمية. ودون الوعى بأبعاد هذه القضية لا يمكن لأى ثقافة أو حضارة أن تحافظ على هويتها، وأن تطور أداءها، وأن تتلاقح إيجابيا مع االحضارات الأخرى.إن التحيز قد يجانب العدل، وهذه هى الإشكالية التى يعالجها هذا الكتاب؛ فقد تحيزت الأمم ضد الامم واحتكرت الوجود، وتحيزت الأفكار والعلوم، وتحيزت الإنسانية فميزت أبيضها عن أسودها، وشمالها عن جنوبها. ولم تنج أمتنا الإسلامية من تلك التحيزات برغم وحدة المصدر، فوقعت فى مشكلة الفرقة والتحيز للفرع دون الأصل. وليس كل تحيز مذموما؛ فالرؤية الكلية الإسلامية تتحيز لوحدة الأمة وسعادة الإنسانية، وتتحيز لحرية العقيدة، وتتحيز للسنن الكونية التى لا تحابى المؤمن على الكافر.وما نشهده منذ منتصف القرن العشرين وحتى الآن- من جهود فكرية فى هذا المجال وما يرتبط به من مجالات- يمثل خطوات واسعة نحو استنهاض الأمة الإسلامية وشعوبها واستعادة هويتها، والإسهام الحضارى الإيجابى البناء، وتعديل مسار الحضارة الإنسانية نحو بناء النظام العالمى على أسس العدل والمساواة، والتعاون والبذل والإتقان والسلام، وهو ما يسعى هذا الكتاب لتحقيقه.
