تمثّل الحكاية وسيلة تعلّم هامّة، و قد اخترقت الزّمن و الحدود و تنقّلت بين الثّقافات و اللّغات ؛ لتتربّى عليها أجيال بعد أجيال، دون أن تفقد سحرها و دورها التّربوي. جاء كتاب «قصص و حكايات عالميّة»، ليهتمّ بالطّفل في عمره الأوّل، و هو كتاب يشمل حكايات من التّراث العلمي، تتَّسم بالتّشويق و جمال السّرد. و تمّ اختيار الحكايات حسب الفئات العمريّة للأطفال، انطلاقا من مبدأ إمكانيّة تكييف نص ما لجمهور معيّن، و تطلّبت عمليّة التّكييف أحيانا إعادة ترتيب السّرد القصصي، مع مراعاة بناء الحبكة القصصيّة و تماشيها و درجة الفهم عند الطفل المعني. تتميّز الحكايات المختارة ببنيات لغويّة، تتكرّر في كل مرّة، مما يسهّل تذكّرها بالنّص و تسهيل استيعابهم له. الشّخصيّات المختلفة في النّص أليفة، يقرّبها أكثر حضورها القويّ في الرّسوم المرافقة، أما المفردات فهي بسيطة و ملموسة و دقيقة، مما يجعل المطالعة متعة و طريقًا مشوّقا
