يرصد الكاتب كيف استيقظ المصريون صباح يوم 21 من جمادى الآخرة سنة1328 هـ، 28 يونيو سنة1910م هذ اليوم الذي لم تشرق فيه شمس الحرية بعد، على هم كئيب جدد أحزانهم الدفينة بقلوبهم المكلومة في خيرة شبابهم، واجهوا يومهم العصيب الذي تجاوز ظلامه الليل البهيم بكل قوة ورباطة جأش حينما سمعوا خبر إعدام الشاب المصري الأصيل، الوطني حتى النخاع، المغرر به من قبل الجماعة الوطنية كما أطلقوا على أنفسهم؛ حيث اندفع الشاب العشريني العمر، الصيدلي المهنة، إبراهيم ناصف الورداني، النموذج الحقيقي لكل أبناء جيله الأوفياء، اندفع بفورة الشباب ليقتل بطرس غالى رئيس وزراء مصر وقتها.
