اصدر عبدالله النديم في 6يونيو سنة 1891 صحيفة "التنكيت والتبكيت " وهي صحيفة أدبية تهذيبية تناولت النقد بطريقة ساخرة وتضمنت مقالاته بها الدفاع عن الفصحى وبيان أهميتها والدعوة الى المحافظة عليها وكان يسر تحت عنوان "أيها الناطق بالضاد" ولقد استمال أسلوب الجريدة القراء وشد انتباههم وزاد الصحيفة شهرة مخاطبتها للعامة والنزول الى مستواهم الفكري.
