"والله كانت حياتي مع فقرها أبسط وأسلس، نخر الدائنون عظمي.. لم يمهلوني، استغلَّ السيد فؤاد تكالبهم عليَّ، كان يتعمَّد أن يكلِّفني بعدِّ الرزم النقدية المتراكمة كالتلِّ على طاولته، يأخذني معه إلى المصرف فقط لأنزع عن الرزم المطاطات البلاستيكية، وأمضي في هذا العمل المتواضع ربع ساعة أو أكثر، وأنا أحاول التخلَّص بأكبر سرعة ممكنة من هذا المنظر الاستفزازي، نعم كانت طريقته استفزازية تمرُّدية من الأعماق، النار كانت تأكل أحشائي، رزمة واحدة من هذا الجبل تسدُّ فم الدائنين، وتكبح جماح إيجار المنـزل، وتسكت جوع أولادي، والمستقبل.. المستقبل كان يخنقني، أولادي سيكبرون.. ويعانون مثلما أعاني وربما أكثر، ويقولون.. رحم الله أبانا.. لم يورث لنا درهماً ولا ديناراً".
