بالرغم أن ليس لكاتب هذه السطور يد باسطة في كتابة المقدمات، وأن بضاعتي فيها مزجاة، إلا أن ثقة المؤلف قد ألزمتني قبول مهمة كتابة هذه المقدمة، أقول ذلك لا لأنني لا أمتلك تجربة في كتابة المقدمات، بل لِما لمقدمة الكتب من أهمية قصوى، فالمقدمة بالنسبة لأي كتاب هي بوابته ومفتاحه، فهي - من وجه - أشبه ما تكون بالدليل - الكتالوج - المرافق لأي جهاز أو آلة ما نقوم بشرائه/ بشرائها، فنحن لا نستطيع الاستغناء عن قراءة الدليل، والاطلاع على ما فيه من تنبيهات ومعلومات تضعنا على طريق واضحة قبل الاستعمال، فأول ما يقع بين يدي كتاب، ولم يكن من المتاح لي أن أقرأه عن قريب، فلا أضعه من يدي قبل أن أقرأ فيه شيئين: المقدمة، وفهرس الموضوعات؛ فكلاهما يقدم فكرةً واضحة وتصورًا دقيقًا لما عليه الكتاب..
